Weekly Menu: Menu Plan Monday (January 16-22) Take Two!

You may remember this menu – I showcased it LAST week. I’ve never been a big one for showing my menu for the upcoming week. I don’t like it because I like to take photographs of my food and share them with you all and I can’t do that if I’m working on a future menu. Therefore, while I will continue to menu plan each week, I will be showing you what I actually ate the previous week. Then I can include photos, nutrition information, costs, and other data as I choose. Sound good?

We’ve planned our menus weekly for years and I’ve begun posting them (again). I’m gathering inspiration from I’m an Organizing Junkie’s Menu Plan Monday.

Aaron planned our menu this week while I worked on gardening projects for Mount Vernon’s push to be a Blue Zones Community.

Monday

My favorite part of this meal was probably the sauce on the chicken. It was incredibly tasty and the chicken itself was very juicy. Delicious.

Tuesday

Dinner We ran out of time and we had Subway.

Wednesday

This was pretty good, but it was probably my least favorite of all the meals we had this week.

Thursday

You can see that I was busy working (see the hint of “Blue Zones Project” on the notepad?), but I can always take a break for something this delicious. The fish was flaky and moist, the sauce was amazing. Aaron also made some rice with peas and dished up some mandarin oranges. The only way it could have been better is if it was served with a crisp white wine. But, you know, I was working.

Friday

Dinner We ended up ordering a pizza.

Saturday

When I found this delicious meal (really, it was better than we expected – it was AMAZING), I had hurriedly said, “Aaron, check out this hearty pork recipe!” He looked at me puzzled. A few days later, I figured out the problem when he told the kids what he was making.

“Whatcha cooking?” the toddler boy asked.
“Party pork,” Aaron answered.

Oops.

Sunday

Brunch Aaron made a delicious brunch for our family. We’ve called this “Daddy Breakfast” for years, but I think the new term will be “Daddy Brunch,” because it keeps moving closer and closer to the afternoon hours. This week’s rendition included fluffy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, and pancakes (NOT from a box) with fresh homemade whipped cream and strawberries from my garden.

Remember when I said the following?

When I take a bite of those strawberries and marvel in their flavor in six months… with three feet of snow on the ground… I hope I hold on to this moment, revel in it, and hug it tightly.

I did.
